Beautiful Summer Maternity Session at Aylard Farm & Beach | Victoria & Sooke Maternity Photographer

When clients ask me for a location that offers a little bit of everything, Aylard Farm is always one of my favourite recommendations. Nestled just outside of Sooke, it's one of the furthest locations I currently travel for photography sessions—and it's absolutely worth the drive.

This beautiful summer maternity session was the perfect example of why I love photographing here. From open fields sprinkled with wildflowers to a quiet sandy beach, Aylard Farm offers an incredible variety of scenery within one session, making it ideal for couples looking for a gallery with lots of different looks.

We began our morning together in the open field, where the soft summer light created a warm and relaxed atmosphere. One thing I always encourage my maternity clients to do is bring along a few meaningful items to personalize their session. Whether it's ultrasound photos, baby shoes, a special blanket, a letterboard, or a custom sign announcing your little one, these small details help tell your family's story.

For this session, the couple brought along their ultrasound photos and a beautiful announcement sign, creating some heartfelt images that captured the excitement of this special chapter in their lives.

One of the benefits of booking my Platinum Session is having enough time to explore more than one area and even include an outfit change. After spending time in the fields, we made our way down to the beach where the scenery changed completely.

The quiet shoreline at Aylard Farm is one of my favourite beaches for maternity photography. The soft sand, peaceful atmosphere, and mountain views in the distance create a timeless backdrop that never feels crowded or distracting.

Before we started photographing by the water, Mom-to-be changed into a stunning flowing outfit she had purchased specifically for her maternity session. The soft fabric caught the breeze beautifully, adding movement and an elegant, ethereal feel to many of the photographs. It's always so exciting when clients choose an outfit that helps bring their vision to life, and this one photographed beautifully against the beach landscape.

One of the things I love most about maternity photography is capturing the connection between two people as they prepare to welcome someone new into their family. It's not about perfect poses—it's about genuine smiles, quiet moments together, and celebrating this exciting season before everything changes.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of photographing this wonderful couple multiple times, and watching families return as they grow is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. There's something incredibly special about documenting each milestone, from maternity to newborn, and then seeing those little babies return for family sessions as they get older.
